everything is ambiguous.
let us examine language.
you might be wondering how language, diction and syntax and all, can be ambiguous when every word can be defined.
indeed every word has a clear and precise meaning.
but take for example, something so direct and clear such as the signs in the subway.
"Dogs must be carried on the escalator."
not to down play anyone's intelligence, i believe we all can interpret the obvious.
but that sentence in itself can stir confusion.
does it mean we have to grab a random mutt in order to ride on the escalators?
a drunk man stumbling over his feet, after stablizing himself, squinting at the sign, may exclaim
"Ah! How true."
some other animal right's activist may be appalled, suggesting that not everyone knows how to handle a mongrel the proper way.or that animals should not be treated as handicaps.
how you understand something has everything to do with what you bring to it
dont blame someone for not seeing things your way, for not understanding you.
we're not you.
make sense of that
